Starting June 1, 2026, more California college students may qualify for CalFresh benefits, helping them access healthy groceries while staying focused on their education.

Students enrolled in associate or bachelor’s degree programs at California Community Colleges (CCC), California State University (CSU), and University of California (UC) campuses are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply.

The Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance wants students to know that food assistance may now be more accessible than ever. Eligible students can use CalFresh benefits to help pay for groceries and reduce food insecurity while pursuing their academic goals.

Students can learn more or apply online at BenefitsCal.com, call 1-800-560-0976, or visit ha.saccounty.gov to find a local office.
