Voting Begins for Statewide Special Election

Ballots for the Nov. 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election are hitting the mail stream and all currently registered voters in Sacramento County will begin receiving theirs as soon as today. Keep an eye on your mailbox and be sure to review, complete and return your ballot early.

Beginning today, voters may use any Ballot Drop Box throughout the County to return their ballot. VRE has a drive-through Ballot Drop Box in the Election's Office parking lot at 7000 65th Street, Sacramento. This Ballot Drop Box is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until 8 p.m. on Election Night.

Voters are encouraged to return their ballots early and should remember to sign their pink VBM envelope in order for their ballot to be counted. Information on the days and hours of operation for Ballot Drop Boxes or upcoming Vote Centers is available on the VRE website at http://www.elections.saccounty.gov,

No postage is necessary for voters returning their ballots by U.S. Mail using the pink Vote by Mail envelope.

Monday, October 20

Close of voter registration for the Nov. 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election. Voter registration forms must be postmarked by this date or delivered to the VRE Office at 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento 95823 by 5 p.m. Online voter registration must be completed before midnight on this date at www.registertovote.ca.gov

Tuesday, October 21

Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) begins

Saturday, October 25

11 Day Vote Centers open

Tuesday, October 28

Last day a Vote by Mail (VBM) ballot can be mailed to you. After this date, VBM ballots are only available at the VRE Office or Vote Centers

Saturday, November 1

All Vote Centers open throughout the County
