Sacramento County invites residents to get outside and get moving for Family Health & Fitness Day on Saturday, June 14, with a variety of fun, free activities taking place throughout the regional park system.

To celebrate, Sacramento County Regional Parks is hosting a series of events designed to encourage physical activity, wellness and quality family time. From group fitness and guided walks to outdoor games and health resources, there’s something for everyone.

In addition to County-hosted activities, Regional Parks is also promoting community-led events happening in our parks, highlighting the many ways local organizations help activate public spaces and inspire healthy living.

“Family Health and Fitness Day is all about encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors and make movement a part of everyday life,” said Liz Bellas, Parks Director. “Whether it’s a County-sponsored 5k at the Cosumnes River Preserve or a Zumba class at Gibson Ranch Regional Park, we want people to explore our parks and have fun together.”

Observed nationally on the second Saturday in June, Family Health & Fitness Day spotlights the vital role parks and recreation play in promoting health and well-being.
