Sacramento County and UPE One-Day Strike

The County and the United Public Employees (UPE) Union have been negotiating a successor agreement for 2025–2028, following the expiration of the current agreements on March 31 (UPE 008, Welfare Non-Supervisory) and June 30 (UPE 005, Office-Technical). UPE called for a one-day strike sometime during the week of July 7.

The following provide details of the two economic offers which represent substantial gains for many UPE members:

  • 3-year term with general wage increases of 2.8% in Year 1, 3% in Year 2, and 3% in Year 3.
  • Longevity pay increased from 2.5% to 4% after 10 years of service.
  • New County 401A match: up to 3% Deferred Compensation match
  • Additional salary adjustments:
    • 2% increase for Election Assistant, Sr. Election Assistant, Printing Services Operator I & II, Printing Services Tech, Sr. Printing Services Operator
    • 7.5% increase for Airport Operations Dispatcher and Sr. Airport Operations Dispatcher
    • 10% increase for Business License Inspector
    • 2% increase for Human Services Social Worker (Bachelors and Masters), Child Development Aid, Social Worker Student Trainee, Workforce Coordinator, Vocational Assessment Counselor, Family Service Worker I/II and Child Development Specialist I/II.
    •   Increase to base salary constituting an additional 5% for all employees in the classes of HSSW, HSSW-Masters Degree, Family Service Worker in exchange for eliminating the 5% CPS Retention Differential received by a portion of members in the above classifications.
  • Maintain the 2.5% CalSAWS Application Registration Differential (set to expire 6/30/25).

The County of Sacramento appreciates the dedication of all our staff members, whose hard work ensures vital services for our community. While the strike is ongoing, County offices will remain open and services will continue.
