The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed May 18–24, 2025, as National Public Works Week, joining jurisdictions across the country in recognizing the vital role public works professionals play in building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our communities.

This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” celebrates the dedication and impact of public works professionals, and highlights how public works makes communities safer, more vibrant, and a better place to live.

“Public works staff are essential to our quality of life. They help ensure our roads are safe, our water is clean, and our neighborhoods are protected from flooding,” said Board Chair and First District Supervisor, Phil Serna. “We’re proud to recognize their work and the many ways they serve Sacramento County residents.”

In celebration of Public Works Week, Sacramento County is spotlighting public works professionals from across its departments through a series of short videos shared on social media throughout the week. These behind-the-scenes clips give residents a chance to meet the people behind the projects—and see firsthand the dedication, expertise and pride they bring to their work.

Be sure to follow Sacramento County on Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to watch the videos and learn more about the people who keep Sacramento moving!
