July is officially Parks Make Life Better Month in Sacramento County! At today’s Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board recognized the important role parks and recreation play in our community and joined the nationwide celebration of the 40th annual Parks and Recreation Month.
Each July, communities across the country come together to celebrate the power of parks to bring people together, boost mental and physical health, and protect natural spaces. This year’s national theme, “Build Together, Play Together,” highlights how parks help us connect—with nature, with neighbors and with ourselves.
Here in Sacramento County, we’re lucky to have more than 15,000 acres of amazing regional parks and open spaces throughout the County. Whether you’re hiking, biking, paddling, picnicking or just enjoying some fresh air, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The Board’s presentation also highlighted the many economic benefits parks bring to communities, and the ways in which Sacramento County Regional Parks supports the County’s Climate Action Plan and Local Age and Disability-Friendly Action Plan.
Parks Make Life better here in Sacramento County, so grab your friends, family and maybe even a picnic blanket—and let’s enjoy our treasured spaces!
