Here in Sacramento County, we see it every day: incredible dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and even the occasional rabbit or guinea pig waiting patiently for someone to notice them. These are loving, loyal companions who just need a second chance. On Saturday, June 7, from noon to 5 p.m., we’re making it easier than ever for you to be that second chance.
Join us for Adopt-a-Pet Day, a one-day, statewide effort to get shelter animals into loving homes. All adoptions at Bradshaw Animal Shelter will be fully sponsored, meaning zero adoption fees thanks to the generosity of our partners at CalAnimals.
That’s right, every animal will go home:
- Spayed or neutered
- Up to date on vaccinations
- Microchipped for identification
- With a one-year pet license (for Sacramento County residents)
And here’s a statistic that might surprise you: If just 6% more people chose to adopt from shelters instead of buying from breeders or pet stores, shelters across the country would be empty. Every kennel would be open. Every animal would have a home. That’s how close we are to a solution, and how powerful your choice to adopt really is.
So if you’ve been thinking about adding a new family member, or if your best friend has, you won’t find a better time than Saturday, June 7. Help us empty the shelter the right way. Come meet your new best friend. Share their photo. Bring a friend. Together, we can turn “someday” into “gotcha day.”
