Cupid was working overtime in Sacramento County this Valentine’s Day as 48 couples from across the County said “I do” to forever at the County Clerk/Recorder’s Office. With a steady stream of couples in the lobby and wedding ceremonies happening throughout the day, the office transformed into a hub of romance and celebration.
Friends and families gathered to witness and celebrate the special moments. One couple shared they chose to get married on Valentine's Day because it’s a special day and now they can celebrate their love twice as big each year.
For longtime sweethearts Sharniece Monroe and Carrie Thomas, this day was a dream 13 years in the making. Sharniece proposed last Valentine’s Day, so it only felt right to make it official exactly one year later.
When we asked how they were feeling Sharniece said, "Happy, excited…. finally! I'm not really a holiday person but I feel like love is important. It's worth it and you got to do what you got to do to make it happen."
If you missed the Valentine’s Day festivities but have a special date in mind, you can still book an appointment online through the County’s marriage appointment calendar. If no appointments are available, call the Clerk/Recorder’s office at 916-874-6131 for assistance. A full list of fees and services can also be found on the Clerk/Recorder’s website.
