County Activates Weather Respite for Rain

Due to the forecast of rain this weekend and next week, the Department of Homeless Services and Housing is activating its weather respite tomorrow, Saturday, March 29 through Tuesday, April 2 at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center (WETYC)​. 

Anyone interested in using a respite center should call 2-1-1 to check capacity before traveling to the center. 

Regional Transit is providing free rides to and from the respite center. 

WETYC inside the Gym, 4000 Branch Center Road

  • Opens Saturday, March 29 at 5 p.m. through Tuesday, April 2 at 10 a.m.​
  • Pets are welcome (one per person, two per couple); they must be crated at all times in the gym and leashed outside the Center. Crates/leashes and dog/cat food are provided.
  • Guests will receive a light breakfast, a bagged lunch and a warm dinner
  • Shower​s and light case management available
