County Activates Weather Respite for Rain and Heavy Wind

Due to the forecast of heavy winds and possible rain this week the County, in partnership with First Step Communities, is activating its weather respite tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. through Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. at the North A Shelter. Staff will continue to monitor the weather for needed extensions.

Anyone interested in using a respite center should call 2-1-1 to check capacity before traveling to the respite shelter.

North A Street Shelter, 1400 N A Street.

  • Opens Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. through Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m.
  • Pets are welcome (one per person, two per couple); they must be crated at all times and leashed outside. Crates/leashes and dog/cat food are provided.
  • Guests will receive a light breakfast, a bagged lunch and a warm dinner

The City is also opening their weather respite center.

Outreach and Engagement Center 3615 Auburn Blvd.

Opens: Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.

Closes: Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8 a.m.
