County Activates Weather Respite for Rain and Heavy Wind Beginning November 12

Due to the forecast of heavy winds and rain this week the County, in partnership with First Step Communities, is activating its weather respite Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Warren E Thorton Youth Center (WETYC). Staff will continue to monitor the weather for needed extensions.

Anyone interested in using a respite center should call 2-1-1 to check capacity before traveling to the respite shelter.

Location: Warren E. Thorton Youth Center (WETYC) 4000 Branch Center Road, Sacramento, Ca 95827

  • When: 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12 until 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025
  • This site is 18+ years only
  • Pets are welcome (1 per person or 2 percouple); however, pets must be crated at all times inside the shelter and leashed outside around the site. Crates/leashes & dog/cat food provided
  • Resources available:
    • Meals (snacks, water, lunch and dinner)
    • Cots for sleeping
    • Showers & Restrooms
    • Phone and other electronic charging
    • Light Case Management
