Emergency Preparedness

The weather respite has been extended through 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8.

Due to the duration of the current weather system with overnight lows and minimal increase in daily temperature combined with the damp nature of the fog layer, the County, in partnership with First Step Communities, is activating weather respite at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center (WETYC), beginning Thursday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.

There are two additional respite centers activating as well:

  • Outreach and Engagement Center

3615 Auburn Blvd.

Closes: Thursday, Jan. 8

  • North 5th Street Navigation Center

700North 5th St.

Will stay open until Thursday, Jan. 8.

Anyone interested in using a respite center should call 2-1-1 to check capacity before traveling to the respite shelter.

Regional Transit is supporting these respite locations with free rides. Please see the Free Ride Flyer.
