The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) will close a stretch of Twin Cities Road to allow Union Pacific to make repairs to their railroad tracks. The five-day closure will start on Monday, July 28 and run through Friday Aug. 1. SacDOT will close Twin Cities Road a half mile west of Highway 99 and stretch to Christensen Road.
The full closure of the road will allow Union Pacific to make necessary adjustments to the track elevation to fix the uneven pavement at the crossing. Once completed, SacDOT will move in to repave the roadway and give travelers a smoother crossing over the train tracks.
During the closures, SacDOT will set up detours around the repair work.
Drivers heading east on Twin Cities can go south on Christensen Road, then east on Spring Street, and north back on West Stockton Boulevard towards Twin Cities to navigate around the closure.
Residents living near the repair work will still have access to their homes.
Commuters driving along that stretch of Twin Cities roads are urged to follow the directions of message boards placed along the route leading up to the closure.
