County Activating Cooling Centers

​​​​​Due to the extreme heat coming this weekend, the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance will open three cooling locations beginning Saturday, August 5 extending to Monday, August 7.  The department will continue monitoring the weather and any extensions will be made as necessary. Cooling centers will be open at the locations, dates, and times listed below. 2-1-1 and 211sacramento.org are the best resource for daily, updated information.

Cooling location information:

All community members are welcome. Pets must be on a leash or contained in an animal carrier at all times. The County DHA cooling locations will operate at the following locations, dates, and hours:

1725 28th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816

  • Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th from 2pm to 8pm. 
  • Monday, August 7th - Offices are open to the public from 8am to 4pm, extended hours for weather respite are 4pm to 8pm.

5747 Watt Avenue, North Highlands, CA 95660

  • Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th from 2pm to 8pm. 
  • Monday, August 7th - Offices are open to the public from 8am to 4pm, extended hours for weather respite are 4pm to 8pm.

2450 Florin Road, Sacramento, CA 95822

  • Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th from 2pm to 8pm. 
  • Monday, August 7th - Offices are open to the public from 8am to 4pm, extended hours for weather respite are 4pm to 8pm.​

SacRT will be providing vouchers for free rides​, to and from the cooling centers for this event. The flyer can be printed or shown on a digital device. ​
