The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors at its special meeting today, in a unanimous vote with those members present, approved the ratification of a local state of emergency for Sacramento County. The emergency proclamation comes as Sacramento County has experienced an atmospheric river that began on Dec. 31, 2022, and has resulted in significant transportation impacts, rising creek and river levels, evacuations and more.

The proclamation authorizes the County to utilize additional services to help mitigate extensive damage caused by the storms. The County is in the process of damage assessments.

The County Executive will return to the Board of Supervisors at least every sixty days with a recommendation to continue or terminate the local emergency.
