Sacramento County Sheriff Star 6 Foundation

The men and women of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association established the STAR 6 Foundation in 2005 after a tragic helicopter crash over the Lake Natoma area. There was an immediate need for financial assistance and grievance counseling for the victims' families, most of whom were out of state, and the men and women of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association who were directly affected. The STAR 6 Foundation adopted the following motto: "LUX TUA NOS DUCAT" or simply stated, "Your light guides us." The Foundation is governed in part by board members of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association.

Sacramento Police/ Sheriff's Memorial Foundation

In 1992, the Sacramento Police/Sheriff's Memorial Foundation was formed to perpetually honor Sacramento Police Officers and Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies who have been killed in the line of duty. The Foundation's initial charge sought to construct a permanent memorial site and host an annual ceremony which honors the grave sacrifice these law enforcement officers made in defense of the citizens of our community. In 2002, the Foundation completed construction and dedicated the site that now exists within Woodlake Park at 500 Arden Way. Since then, the Foundation hosts an annual remembrance ceremony during the month of May, adding a memorial bollard when a Sacramento law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty. The initial construction of the Memorial came from the benevolence of private donations, many of which are City employees. With the Memorial now built, the Foundation continues to provide upkeep and maintenance for this site, as well as ensure that the brave men and women enrolled at this memorial site are never forgotten.
