Code of Conduct

Sacramento County is committed to providing effective and equitable services while maintaining a safe, professional, and respectful environment for employees and members of the public.

Individuals interacting with County employees are expected to communicate and behave respectfully. Abusive, threatening, harassing, intimidating, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate conduct directed toward County employees or others is not acceptable. This applies to all forms of communication, including in-person interactions, telephone calls, written and electronic communications, online submissions, photographs, and other materials provided to the County.

Nothing in this statement is intended to discourage or restrict individuals from reporting misconduct, safety concerns, unlawful activity, code violations, discrimination, harassment, threats, or other matters of public concern, or from providing photographs, documents, recordings, or other information relevant to such reports. The County encourages the reporting of legitimate concerns and will evaluate those reports in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.

The County may take appropriate action when conduct does not meet these expectations or violates applicable County policies. This may include ending a communication or interaction, declining to process inappropriate or abusive communications, establishing alternative methods of communication, or taking other appropriate action.

These expectations support the County's Workplace Violence Prevention Policy and applicable departmental policies and procedures.
