Sacramento County will host a virtual community webinar on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m. to provide an update on the County's ongoing Jail System Master Planning effort and share information about the next steps in the planning process.

The webinar will provide an overview of the Jail System Master Planning process, expected outcomes and project timeline, as well as a summary of community input received to date. Registration is required.

Register for the Aug. 27 community webinar online.

The webinar is the latest in a series of opportunities for the community to learn about and provide input on the County's long-term planning for its jail system. Earlier this year, the County hosted a community listening session and an informational webinar. The County also conducted surveys to gather feedback on the jail system as well as community priorities and considerations related to jail facilities.

Community members who would like to learn more before the Aug. 27 webinar can review materials from previous outreach efforts, including the January community listening session and the April 23 community webinar. A recording of the April webinar is also available online.

The Jail System Master Planning effort is intended to develop a long-term plan for Sacramento County's jail system and is required to further efforts to comply with a federal Consent Decree. The County is conducting the planning process in partnership with consultant Health Management Associates and has sought community input throughout the effort to help inform the planning process.

Community members may submit written comments to PSJA@saccounty.gov. Comments will be accepted leading up to and following the webinar through Sept. 10, 2026.
