Applications are available through the Climate Emergency Mobilization Task Force website.
The Task Force meets every other month on the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. Meetings are held in the Sacramento County Board Chambers, located at 700 H St. in Sacramento.
Members receive a stipend of $70 per meeting.
The County is seeking applicants representing:
- Environmental justice communities, including North Highlands, South Sacramento, Vineyard, West Arden Arcade and countywide representatives
- Subject matter experts in air quality, agriculture, the built environment, economics, energy and transit/transportation
- Student and youth residents
Task Force members are expected to:
- Attend one regular meeting every other month, with the possibility of one or two subcommittee meetings or events per month
- Dedicate approximately two to six hours per month to research, correspondence and outreach
- Complete ethics training and file annual financial disclosures related to conflicts of interest
- Represent diverse viewpoints and collaborate with stakeholders across the community
Task Force members work alongside County staff to develop and support implementation of a climate emergency response plan focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing communities for the impacts of climate change.
“The Task Force’s primary focus is gathering public input and providing informed recommendations to the County on actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change,” said Josh Lathan, Sustainability Manager. “We invite anyone who has a commitment to collaboration, equity and partnerships in advancing public policy to apply.”
